Help centerHow can we help?
Answers to common questions about quotes, applying, your policy and claims.
Getting a quote
Is it free to get a quote?
Yes. Comparing quotes on Quotient is free and doesn't commit you to anything.
Why do you ask about my health?
Health, build and nicotine use are how insurers set prices. Honest answers mean the quote you see is closer to your final price.
Will getting a quote affect my credit?
No. We don't run a credit check to show you quotes.
Applying
How long does it take to get approved?
Anywhere from the same day to several weeks, depending on the insurer, the coverage amount and whether an exam or medical records are needed.
Do I need a medical exam?
Not always. Many healthy applicants qualify without one. If an exam is needed, it's free and can usually be done at home.
What is underwriting?
It's the insurer's review of your application, records and any exam results to decide whether to approve you and at what price.
After you're approved
When does my coverage start?
Usually once you've signed the policy and made your first payment.
Can I change my beneficiary?
Yes. You can usually update beneficiaries any time by contacting your insurer.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Most policies have a free look period, often 10 to 30 days, for a full refund, and you can cancel later by stopping payments or contacting your insurer.
Filing a claim
How does my family file a claim?
Your beneficiary contacts the insurer with the policy number and a certified copy of the death certificate. We're happy to help guide them through it.
How long do claims take?
Many claims are paid within 30 to 60 days after the insurer receives everything it needs.
Privacy and security
Do you sell my information?
No. We share your details only with insurers you choose to apply with. See our privacy notice for details.
How is my data protected?
Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is limited to the people who need it to help you.
